Taverna Aravanes established in 1982 and known for the genuine hospitality, warm welcome and the delicious traditional food. It is run by Eleftheria and Maria Papoutsaki, daughters of Lambros and Maria Papoutsaki, who first started the business.
In taverna Aravanes you can taste delicious recipes, based on tradition, made with local products and pure ingredients. Many dishes are cooked in the wood oven, which makes the food exceptional! In a beautiful stone-made building, with multiple exhibits from the surrounding area for the visitors to explore. There is also a mini store inside, where visitors can purchase local products.
Authentic Cretan food, with natural products at a homey atmosphere next to the fireplace. They are cooking at a wood oven just as if it is for their guests at home. We will surely come back during summer as the view is amazing.
Aravanes family restaurant is unique! Located on a cliff with a panoramic view of the valley and the Psiloritis mountain as well it is the best setting for a lunch with solely organic products that come either from their farm or from other small family farms of the region.
We had a fantastic lunch at this Taverna. The food is simple, authentic Greek cuisine cooked perfectly. The host was exceptional and made us feel so welcome. The views of the mountains and the valley were breathtaking.
